The latest monitoring session was carried out on Thursday 13/2/20 on Risby Road between the 30mph signs & the junction with Ermine Street (30 mph).

A total of 146 vehicles passed the monitoring point during the period it was carried out.
14 vehicles were being driven between 30-40 mph – 9.6%
4  vehicles were being driven between 40-50 mph –2.7 %
0 vehicles were being driven above 50 mph.

The remaining 128 vehicles, 87.7%, were being driven within the speed threshold.
2 vehicles had no current Road Tax & no MOT.

1 vehicle had no current Road Tax.

The latest monitoring session was carried out on Friday 7/2/20 on Risby Road between the 30mph signs & the junction with Ermine Street (30 mph). 

A total of 137 vehicles passed the monitoring point during the period it was carried out.

10 vehicles were being driven between 30-40 mph – 7.3%

6 vehicles were being driven between 40-50 mph – 4.4%

1 vehicle was being driven at 51 mph – 0.7%

The remaining 120 vehicles, 87.6%, were being driven within the speed threshold.

The latest monitoring session was carried out on Friday 31/1/20 on Risby Road between the 30mph signs & the junction with Ermine Street.

A total of 205 vehicles passed the monitoring point during the period it was carried out.

12 vehicles were being driven between 30-40 mph – 5.8%

10  vehicles were being driven between 40-50 mph – 4.9%

1 vehicle was being driven at 70 mph by the time  it reached the 50 mph speed limit sign. The remaining 182 vehicles, 88.8%, were being driven within the speed threshold.


The latest monitoring session was carried out on Friday 24/1/20 in the Appleby Station Area where the speed limit is 40mph.

A total of 225 vehicles passed the monitoring point during the monitoring period.

NO vehicles were being driven above the speed threshold.

The latest monitoring session was carried out on Monday 20/1/20 on Risby Rd between the 30mph signs & the junction with Ermine St.
A total of 108 vehicles passed the monitoring point during the monitoring period.
93 vehicles, 86%, were being driven within the speeding threshold.
14 vehicles were recorded between 30-40 mph (13%)
1 vehicle was recorded between 40-50 mph (1%) – (40mph)
No vehicles were recorded between 50-60 mph.
The presence of the signs & the team was again causing drivers to slow down.1 vehicle was subsequently discovered to be without a current road tax.

To date a total of 819 vehicles have passed the monitoring points, of which 750 (91.6%) were travelling within the speed threshold for the respective areas, however 69 (8.4%) vehicles were exceeding the speed threshold.
There have been 3 repeat speeders.

The highest speed recorded was 58mph in a 30mph speed limit.

The monitoring sessions have also revealed 3 vehicles which did not have a current MOT & 1 vehicle without a current road tax.

The team are pleased to welcome two new volunteers who have recently been trained.

Appleby & Santon CSW carried out a speed monitoring session on Monday, 30th December 2019 on Risby Road between the 30mph signs & the junction with Ermine Street. The designated speed limit for this section of road is 30 mph.

A total of 147 vehicles passed the monitoring point during the period it was carried out.

7 vehicles were being driven between 30-40 mph.

10 vehicles were being driven between 40-50 mph.

The remaining 130 vehicles, 88%, were being driven within the speed threshold.

A monitoring session by the Appleby & Santon CSW was carried out on Tuesday 7th January 2020 at the Appleby Station Area where the designated speed limit is 40 mph.

During the period that the monitoring team were at the roadside a noticeable change could be seen in the speed of some vehicles.

A total of 178 vehicles passed the monitoring point during the monitoring period.

No vehicles were recorded between 50-60 mph.

2 vehicles were recorded between 40-50 mph (1%).

The remaining 176 vehicles, 99%, were being driven within the speeding threshold.

A monitoring session was carried out on Friday 10th January 2020, on Risby Road between the 30mph signs & the junction with Ermine Street. The designated speed limit for this section of road is 30 mph.
A total of 171 vehicles passed the monitoring point during the period it was carried out.
12 vehicles were being driven between 30-40 mph.
7 vehicles were being driven between 40-50 mph.
1 vehicle was being driven between 50-60 mph
The remaining 142 vehicles, 83%, were being driven within the speed threshold.
The highest speed was recorded at 58mph with the driver looking horrified when they realised that they been clocked.
A noticeable change could be seen in the speed of some vehicles, many drivers gave a thumbs up or positive wave.
The driver of one vehicle made a return trip & was speeding on both occasions. Three vehicles have since been found not to have a current MOT
