Little Free Library
Appleby’s Very Own Little Free Library is OPEN!
Updates, books-on-the-shelves, news and more appear daily on the Little Free Library FaceBook Page.
Located outside The Thatched Cottage your LFL works much like a ‘real’ library – but with a difference! You do not need to ‘join’, just come along whenever you wish to select a book or books. The Library is ‘open all hours’! When you take a book (or three!) leave a book of your own in its place. That way your LFL will sustain its stock. We’d love it if you returned the books you’ve read and enjoyed so others too can share your pleasure.
The LFL will be filled to overflowing with a varied selection of titles and genres to suit a wide range of ages and tastes. Special ‘themed’ weeks are planned and occasional features such as book-of-the-day and other LFL related special events will be held throughout the year.
Donations of books are always very welcome – just drop them off at ‘The Thatch’ where they will be endorsed with the official Little Free Library stamp!
We are very grateful to Winterton and District Lions Club for providing funding for our Little Free Library. Please visit their website and see for yourself the good work they do for the community and beyond.
The LFL movement exists to promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide and to build a sense of community as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across generations. There are over 36,000 Little Free Library book exchanges around the world, bringing curbside literacy home and sharing millions of books annually.
Further details of how the LFL organisation operates worldwide can be found on the Little Free Library Website.
